The Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Ajala, has explained the great achievements recorded in tackling unemployment and promoting peace among the youth within the LCDA.
The chairman gave the explanation at the Beauty for Purpose Outreach organized by Queen Aira, Miss Abimbola Abayomi.
The programme, which was tagged "Social Inclusion Project & Youth Empowerment", was held on Thursday July 21, 2022, within the council premises.
Speaking at the event, Hon Ajala, commended the brains behind the event.
"On behalf of the good people of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, I would like to express my profound gratitude to one of us, a product of this LCDA, Miss Abimbola Abayomi, for this great Innovation which is aimed at reducing the number of unemployed youth in our community," the chairman said.
He noted that his administration had rolled out many programmes which were geared at tackling unemployment.
"Annual distribution of free GCE and JAMB forms to candidates within the LCDA is part of our efforts to keep the youth out of the street," HRA explained.
He added that undergraduates living in Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA are regularly provided financial assistance.
"Apart from other skill acquisition programmes, traders financial assistance. We do this to help the youth and traders.
"But due to the growing needs and expectations of the people from the government and the dwindling resources to meet all the needs of our people there is a need from all tiers of government to partner public-spirited organizations and individuals towards delivering the dividends of democracy to our people."
The chairman solicited the cooperation of everyone within the LCDA.
"I want to appeal to our people within and beyond our local government that they should partner with us towards ensuring that we elevate the people at the bottom of the ladder to the medium if not the top. By so doing, all of us will be able to sleep with our two eyes closed.
"All of us must come together, government, public and individuals to ensure that we provide meaningful programmes in form of skill acquisition and empowerment to reduce incessant cases of kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities that are ravaging our country," Hon Ajala stated.
